Family Support -- Parent Aide services are effective in reducing the occurrence of child abuse and neglect and strengthening families. As supportive, educated and caring individuals, Parent Aides can make the critical difference in enabling parents to succeed in developing new parenting skills, understanding of child development, thus breaking a potential intergenerational cycle of child abuse and neglect.
- Strengthen parenting skills
- Replace abusive behaviors with positive discipline
- Develop parental self-confidence and self-esteem
- Understand realistic expectations based on their child’s abilities
- Improve problem solving, communication, and individual coping skills
- Expand social contact and reduce isolation
- Enhance home management skills
- Promote and facilitate contact with community resources
- Assist with transportation for at-risk children to and from appointments.
- Special Events Assistants: Provide planning, and implementation support for special events, and celebrations.
